Description:

| Hello, I’m Carmen, founder and teacher at ZONA-ZEN.
I first came across the world of yoga years ago, quite by chance; I wasn’t looking for it, it simply turned up just when I needed it. My training began in Vigo, where I completed the Yoga Sananda teacher training course, taught by Madhana. Later, I trained for three years as a yoga therapy teacher with Dr Miguel Fraile in Madrid, and through him I learnt a new approach to yoga – a more Western approach, whilst still respecting the basic principles of the yogic tradition. During lockdown, I began incorporating some Kundalini Yoga into my personal practice – a more energetic form of yoga that captivated me from the very first time I practised it – so I decided to train as an instructor in this discipline so that I could integrate new tools into my classes and offer them to my students. To this day, I’m still passionate about learning about this ancient practice, whilst also combining it with new insights, so I trained in Myofascial Yoga (the world of fascia fascinates me); it is a system that combines myofascial release techniques with yoga to improve connective tissue and strive for a biotensegrity body. A few years ago, for professional reasons, I decided to train as a Pilates instructor, and I learnt that everything adds up – and although they are different jobs, they have a lot in common. I regularly attend Feldenkrais Method courses – a form of body-awareness work aimed at improving our body image – which provide me with a great deal of insight when it comes to running my back classes. It goes without saying that my training continues every day; I learn something new from my students every day. I owe them everything – I wouldn’t be enjoying this without them – so I’m grateful for every yoga session we share. NAMASTE |
