Mioball® RETAIL OUTLET AND AUTHORISED CENTRE
María Diz is currently the director of the yoga and postural education centre in Málaga.
I have been practising yoga for over 20 years, following the Iyengar method.
The truth is, I find it really hard to talk about myself... I’d rather let others do that.
I can’t remember all the training courses I’ve done – there are so many – but I’ve always been looking for a more therapeutic and rehabilitative approach.
After 25 years in the business world, I turned my passion – YOGA – into my profession. And now I try to share what I’ve learnt from so many teachers, such as Enrique Moya, José Maria Vigar, Víctor Flores and many others who have inspired me and helped me become the teacher I am today.
I have a special connection with Yoga Kula; I’ve been able to take part in many of their training courses and have particularly fallen in love with the myofascial training – a spectacular practice made possible by their wonderful balls. I love developing and exploring my practice; I always discover something new compared to the previous session.
Their courses are very comprehensive, and their teachers, Helena and Javier, are true yoga professionals.
The yin yoga training helped me understand the depth of the yoga practice by connecting with that sense of serenity we all carry within us.
I’ve just completed my aerial yoga training with Nuria Martin, a wonderful teacher who has helped me connect with the magic within me… and this year I’m starting my Kundalini training. It’s quite a challenge for someone who loves alignment and perfect posture. I carry on studying every day, because I feel I still have so much to learn. I see myself as an eternal learner, because I’m not a master of anything. I simply enjoy sharing what I experience in my own body and try every day to find that space that needs to be released. At the moment, I teach yoga classes using ropes (kurunta) and swings. I use every tool available (chairs, blocks, blankets, belts, walls, etc.) to help students achieve the pose, ensuring that every student who comes to my studio can perform the pose correctly, whilst avoiding potential injuries.
I love my job and I love the variety that physical yoga offers. I don’t see myself as a spiritual yoga teacher; I’m more interested in the physical aspect because I believe that students need to improve their bodies through physical practice in order to focus their minds properly. For me, spirituality is something very intimate and personal, and I believe that everyone must find their own path in that area.
I’m still trying to find the best posture for each person, because what works for one person doesn’t necessarily work for another… and that’s an ongoing process of research.
And always evolving...😊
