The Holistic EcoYoga System

Holistic EcoYoga does not merely teach postures: it teaches you how to inhabit your body. It is a system of practice and training that integrates the body, energy, awareness and ecology, with a scientific basis and an awareness of cycles.

We use the term ‘system’ to refer to more than just a style of yoga. It is a way of understanding the practice in which the body, vital energy, mind and environment are not worked on separately, but as a single process. Learning to inhabit the body is also learning to inhabit the space one occupies.

BODY

Inhabiting the body with attention and precision. Physical practice, somatic work and biomechanics as a starting point.

ENERGY

Regulating vital energy through breathing and the management of prana and qi.

AWARENESS

The presence, regulation and reorganisation of the patterns that shape us.

ECOLOGY

Recognising the living relationship between the body, people and the natural environment of which we are a part.

The Roots of the System

Holistic EcoYoga draws on psycho-physical and contemplative traditions, contemporary scientific knowledge and a relational view of human beings and nature. This is the source of its principles: a holistic approach that views the individual as a whole; a science that does not disregard experience; traditional wisdom interpreted through a contemporary lens; a learning community without hierarchies; an awareness that everything is interconnected; and original knowledge born of research and direct experience.

The Methods of the System

It is from these roots that the unique methods of Holistic EcoYoga spring. Each is a complete system — comprising a theoretical foundation, practical techniques and a teaching methodology — whilst also serving as a gateway into the system itself: EcoSer Yoga, TCMYoga, AyurYoga, AromaYoga, EcoFascial (Myofascial Yoga, the Mioball® Technique and Ecosomatics) and Pranayama.

Practice does not take place in isolation from the world, but in relation to the body, other people and the territory of which we form a part.
